Mode

A dark variant of Magic: The Gathering where players begin already fallen, deep in negative life, and must claw their way back to zero. The last to ascend loses.

• 01All players start at −40 life.
• 02Players gain life instead of losing it. Spells and effects that deal damage reduce your progress; healing moves you forward.
• 03The first player to reach 0 life ascends and wins the game.
• 04Commander damage still applies: 21 damage from a single commander eliminates that player.
• 05All other standard MTG rules remain in effect.

If a player's life reaches −99, they have gone Abyssal; consumed entirely by the void. Their life total is frozen and they are eliminated from the game. The remaining players continue until one ascends to 0.
